Kristen’s Cookie Jar is a small, home-based bakery operated by Kristen Hildebrand in Selkirk, Manitoba. This notice explains what information we collect through the order form on this website, how it is used, and how it is stored. It is written to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
When you place an order through the form on this site, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to provide one
- The items, quantities, requested pickup date, and pickup location for your order
- Any notes you include about your order (e.g. custom design requests, allergen concerns)
We also automatically collect technical information that is standard for any website visit (IP address, browser type, the page you came from) for the purpose of rate-limiting spam and protecting the site from abuse. This technical information is not linked to your order details.
Why we collect it
We collect this information only to fulfill your order: to confirm availability, confirm pricing, coordinate pickup, and follow up if there are any questions. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your order, and we do not maintain a mailing list.
Where it goes
When you submit the form, your order details are emailed to Kristen and stored only in her personal inbox. The email is delivered by a transactional email service that processes the message on our behalf. The website itself is hosted on a cloud hosting platform, and this site is configured to run in the platform's Canadian region (Montréal, Québec), so your form submission is processed on servers physically located in Canada. The email service that then delivers the message to Kristen's inbox is US-based; by submitting the form you consent to the resulting email being handled in the United States as part of that delivery. We do not share your information with any party other than these processors, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
How long it’s kept
Order emails are stored in Kristen’s inbox for as long as is necessary to fulfill the order and address any follow-up questions. We do not maintain a separate database of orders. You can ask us to delete the email associated with your order at any time by contacting us at the address below.
Your auto-reply
After you submit, you receive an automated confirmation email at the address you provided. This is a receipt of your request — it is not a marketing message and there is no list to be subscribed to.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Request access to it
- Request that we correct or delete it
- Withdraw your consent (which means we will not be able to fulfill any in-progress orders)

Analytics
We use a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool to understand which pages visitors find useful. It is cookieless and does not follow you across websites — it records only anonymous, aggregated information:
- The page you visited
- Your general country and city (derived from your IP address, then discarded)
- The type of browser and device you used
- The site that referred you to us, if any
No individual visitor can be identified from this data, and it is not linked to any order you place. The analytics server runs on hardware we control in Canada, not on a third-party advertising network.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. Because we do not use cookies for these purposes, no cookie consent banner is required. Standard browser session storage may be used by Cloudflare Turnstile (an anti-bot challenge) when you submit the order form; this storage is automatically cleared when you close the tab.
Changes to this notice
If we make material changes to how we handle your information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Substantive changes that affect existing orders would be communicated to affected customers directly.
